One early morning, no sooner had Watson and Holmes eaten their breakfast at their apartment in London, Doctor James Mortimer came to visit them. He brought an old manuscript and the odd case that had just happened in Devonshire.
The old manuscript told an ancient odd story: there was a Baskerville Hall in Devonshire a long time ago. Its owner was Hugo Baskerville, who had bad morality and bad behavior. He fell in love with a girl. But the young woman disliked him very much. In a later chance Hugo snatched the girl and locked her in a little room upstairs.
That night when other people were off guard, the poor girl climbed out of a window and escaped through it. Then she ran away toward home through the moors. On discovering she was gone, Hugo rode his horse to chase her.
Unfortunately, the girl threw herself onto the ground dead. As soon as Hugo arrived, a monster beside the girl sprang at him. It was said that the monster was biting Hugo's neck when people found both of them. And then the monster was named the Hound of the Baskervilles.
